Feature
First of all, I'd like to feature my good friend ~A-ki-hi-to here. He's going through a rough financial spot including medical bills, and he's offering commissions. This guy improves artistically more than anyone I've met in my life, to be very honest. He has a beautiful, polished style that I think works great for commissions, so please go throw your money at him! He needs it! A movie, you say?
Those of you who know me well enough know that I adore "The Thief and the Cobbler" for its animation genius and creative, endearing character presentations. Well to my surprise, there's a newer animated movie that I think reflects on some of that similar geometrical poetry in motion and touching little plot.
This film came out a while ago, but it's new to me, and I'm sure it's new to most of you.
This is "Brendan and the Secret of Kells," also known as "Secret of Kells," and it was nominated for an Academy Award. It was produced by the same folks who made "The Triplets of Belleville," and if you haven't seen that either, then FOR SHAME! No but really, it wasn't released in U.S. theaters, for some unconscionable reason.
"The Secret of Kells" is on Netflix. Click here for the trailer:
